Milestones

Pre – 2000

  • Two major programmes of ICAR viz., Operational Research Project (ORP) and Lab to Land Project (LLP) were undertaken by the division. Initially 13 Villages were identified and the ORP was initiated.
  • During ICAR golden jubilee year (1979), Lab to Land programme was initiated and successfully implemented in the selected villages.
  • The central art and photography section came in control of the division.
  • A monthly bulletin “Pariyojana” was published.
  • The division prepared the reports of ICAR regional committee (IV) meetings on two occasions and is still actively involved in the same.
  • Various art jobs were carried out in the division.
  • Farmer friendly literatures have been distributed to famers for transfer of knowledge.
  • The division has organized various extension activities viz. exhibitions, animal health camps, vaccination camps, trainings, demonstrations, video shows, Kisan gosthis and field visits for the farmers.
  • The division is actively involved in human resource development activities for ARS probationers, teaching faculty of Agricultural and Veterinary universities, officers of line departments through trainings, refresher courses, seminars and conferences.

  • Researches on extension strategies for cattle, buffalo, goats and fodder production are important components of the division.
  • Data was collected and analyzed from the villages chosen for the projects to frame extension strategies for technological interventions. Also few demonstration units were established in the study areas.
  • The divisional faculty proposed seven models for effective extension interventions and the same was tested in the research areas.
  • SWOT analysis for organic animal husbandry was undertaken.
  • A monograph on “Impact of technologies developed and commercialized by IVRI” was prepared and published. Also a “need based information system for livestock production” was developed.
  • The division has organized various extension activities viz. exhibitions, animal health camps, vaccination camps, trainings, demonstrations, video shows, Kisan gosthis and field visits for the farmers.
  • The division is actively involved in human resource development activities for ARS probationers, teaching faculty of Agricultural and Veterinary universities, officers of line departments through trainings, refresher courses, seminars and conferences.
  • Research projects on “Diffusion and adoption of livestock technologies”, “Popularization of animal science technologies among livestock farmers through mobile telephony”, “Development and application of electronic learning and diagnostic modules for health management of dogs”, “Dissemination and impact of educational information for improvement of calf management at field level” and “Occupational health hazards and risks in livestock rearing among male and female workers in Uttar Pradesh: A Gender Analysis” are being carried out by the scientists and the works are in progress.
  • With Joint Directorate of Extension Education and KVK, IVRI, the divisional scientists actively participate in various events like Kisan Mela, Kisan Gosthis, farmers’ interaction meetings, interface meetings with professionals within and away from IVRI. Students of division actively constituted the divisional stalls in IVRI Kisan Mela and the division bagged “best stall award” on both the occasions in the year 2011 and 2014.
