Major Achievements

Research Outcome

  • Developed more than 30 technologies for ready to eat convenient and value added economic products from chicken, mutton, chevon, buffalo and pork meat like sausages, patties, meat blocks, nuggets, meat balls, salami, kababs, pickle etc.
  • Standardized more than 20 processes for preparation of variety of functional, restructured, enrobed and shelf stable meat products with improved nutritive value and shelf life.
  • Identified optimum handling conditions and developed techniques for tenderization and quality improvement of meat and meat products.
  • Developed PCR based methods for meat speciation and sex determination.
  • Developed rapids tests for quality evaluation and safety assurance of meat and meat products during supply chain.
  • Standardized recipes for novel convenience and value added shelf stable milk products.
  • Submitted 7 technologies/processes for patenting.

Publications

  • The Division has published more than 400 research papers, 250 reviews and technical/ popular articles in reputed national and international journals.
  • Published 10 books/ monographs/ bulletins.
  • Presented more than 400 research abstracts in National and International Conferences.

Awards/Recognitions

  • Institute Best Teacher Award has been awarded to three faculty members.
  • Rajendra Prasad Puruskar was received for writing Technical Book in Hindi entitled, “Swachch Maans Utpadan”.
  • The Division has received many appreciations like Chal Vaijayanti, Achal Vaijayanti, Certificate of Appreciation for revenue generation, awards for best maintained division and best stalls etc during different years.

Human Resource Development

  • 99 M.V.Sc. and 55 Ph.D. scholars have obtained their degrees till date and are well placed in ICAR Institutes, SAUs, Central/ State government organizations.
  • Many scholars had received distinction at National and International Level. Jawahar Lal Nehru Award was presented to four Ph.D. students. Three students have been selected in Civil Services.
