Technologies Developed

  • Japanese encephalitis: Recombinant antigen based and whole virus antigen ELISAs for pig serodiagnosis; Validated (intra- and inter-institutional). RT-PCR and RT-qPCR
  • Rotavirus: RT-PCR and RT-qPCR for detection and genotying of human and animal (bovine, caprine, ovine and swine) rotaviruses.
  • Foodborne pathogens: PCR assays for rapid detection of pathogens from foods: L. monocytogenes, Salmonella, Aeromonas, Clostridium perfringens, methicillin resistantStaphylococcus aureus and verotoxic E. coli.
  • Shelf life extension and growth inhibition of pathogens in meat using lactic acid, acetic acid, propionic acid, nisin, sodium lactate, sodium pyrophosphate and biopreservatives, chitosan and essential oils from spices.
  • Immuno-assays (thermo-stable antigens of adrenals and muscle) and PCR assays for detection of meat adulteration/speciation.


  • Received Punjabrao Krishi Vidapeeth “Merit Scholarship” during 2nd, 3rd and 4th year of B.V.Sc. and A.H.
  • Received Bombay Veterinary College “Diamond Jubilee Commemoration Prize” during 1st and 2nd year of M.V.Sc. for securing 1st rank in both years
  • Received “Gold Medal” from Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth in M.V.Sc. degree.
  • Received Poonawala “Gold Medal” for “Best All Round Postgraduate student” during M.V.Sc. degree.
