The Section was established in 1982 with the objectives of production of cattle and buffalo semen, their long-term storage and supply to different agencies along with post-graduate teaching, research and training. The centre is maintaining breeding bulls of Vrindavani (a synthetic cattle breed), Tharparkar, Sahiwal and Murrah buffalo for semen collection, processing & freezing. The frozen semen is supplied to various outside agencies apart from meeting the requirement of the LPM farm & other divisions of the institute. Among teaching and research activities, various courses on semen freezing, semen biology & andrology are being taught at this centre. Research on the various project as well as student’s thesis project are conducted.
