The first refresher course for field veterinarians was offered at the institute as early as in 1900. Due to the pressing and ever increasing demand for trained field veterinarians, a scheme for training the officers from army and civil veterinary departments in comparative pathology, bacteriology and microscopy was launched in 1904. Subsequently, to meet the requirements of the field veterinary officers, this course was reframed and designated as “Postgraduate Refresher Course”. Keeping pace with the newer developments in animal health and animal production activities, the course was subsequently re-organized in 1922, 1930 and 1950. To cater to the need of the on-going changes in the livestock industry and animal husbandry in the country, the PG course was redesigned and designated as “ PG and National Diploma Course”. Selection Procedure
Applicants academic record and laboratory/ field experience are the basis for selection. At the time of admission, the candidate is required to present his degree/ diploma/ experience certificates, etc. in original.
Seats Allotment
After receiving the nominations/ seat requirements from all State Animal Husbandry/ Veterinary Departments/ Army/ Wildlife and Zoo, etc. allotment will be finalized and the candidates are informed accordingly well in advance.
