Major Achievements

  • Conducted field evaluation of IVRI technologies such as UMMB, infertility laddoo, feed block making machine, traviport, fetal extractor, device for correction of prolapsed uterus and fracture fixation devices.
  • Organised 16 training programmes for veterinary officers/practitioners, benefitting 373 trainees from different states such as Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, Goa, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Sikkim.
  • Organised 14 training programmess for tribal and SC farmers (1536 trainees, including 422 women) of Nashik, Nandurbar, Gadchiroli and Pune districts.
  • Organised eight workshops/seminars/technical meets/webinars (about 1300 participants).
  • Organised 6 Interface Meets with animal husbandry departments of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, Goa and Kerala states (~ 600 participants), and two Institute-Industry Interface Meets (123 participants).
  • Organised several Farmers Meets/Kisan Goshties/Participation in Exhibitions/Mera-Gaon-Mera Gaurav programmes in Maharashtra, Gujarat and Karnataka states.
  • Organised 50 animal health camps, mostly in drought affected and tribal areas, treating ~ 8250 animals of about 2850 farmers and 3 Gau Shalas.
  • Conducted different surveys among veterinary officers of Maharashtra State: (i) Training needs of State VOs (290 VOs); (ii) Prevalence of important infectious, systemic and reproductive diseases in livestock of Maharashtra state: (344 VOs); (iii) Antibiotic use by field veterinarians: (VOs of Maharashtra (291), Andhra Pradesh (29), Karnataka (23) and Goa (8); and (iv) Livestock Health Care Delivery System in different regions of Maharashtra state (250 VOs).
  • Through TSP and SCSP programmes, livelihood support was given to 55 tribal/SC farmers of Nashik and Nandurbar districts, and 15 SC farmers of Pune district through goat and backyard poultry farming; income of 20 tribal farmers, who were supported with goat units (4F + 1 M) in 2017 and 2018, increased by more than double in less than 3 years (from initial average income of Rs 15,000/per annum) as they earned total of Rs 6,12, 800 by sale of goats in 2018-19 (Rs. 2,35,300) and 2019-20 (Rs. 3,77,500).
